WHAT I'M WATCHING/WHAT YOU SHOULD BE WATCHING:

I've been on a 90's kick lately, which is vintage to the kids these days. So here are a few 90's recommendations I think that you would be in to viewing. Let's begin...

1. Set it Off (1996)

This is a great movie. It made me cry several times, but it's also an exciting heist film with an all female African American cast: Jada Pinkett Smith, Vivica Fox, Queen Latifah, and Kimberly Elise.

It's about a group of women struggling to make ends meet, who decide to start robbing banks and get tracked by an obsessive detective (John C. McGinley).

2. Damage (1992)

An erotic tragedy directed by Louis Malle and based on the bestselling book by Josephine Hart. It has great performances by Juliette Binoche, Jeremy Irons, Miranda Richardson, and Rupert Graves.

Here's the trailer...

3. Romeo is Bleeding (1993)

A thriller about a crooked cop in over his head when he tries to assassinate a Russian hit woman. It's a really fun movie starring Gary Oldman,Lena Olin, Annabella Sciorra, Juliette Lewis, and Roy Scheider.

Here's the trailer...

4. True Romance (1993)

This Tony Scott (R.I.P.) directed and Quentin Tarantino written film is a GREAT fun ride with great performances by SO many people: Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Gary Oldman, Brad Pitt, Dennis Hopper, Christopher Walken, James Gandolfini, Val Kilmer, Michael Rapaport, Chris Penn, Tom Sizemore, Saul Rubinek, and even Bronson Pinchot. Yes "Balki" makes an appearance. What's not to love?

5. Amateur (1994)

I love the indie director Hal Hartley. This is a crime/drama, directed by Hal Hartley, about a former nun helping an amnesiac uncover his criminal past. It stars the fabulous Isabelle Hupert and Martin Donovan.

6. Dead Again (1991)

This is a great 90's crime drama directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson.

Here's the plot:

When a mute woman suffering from amnesia (Emma Thompson) arrives at the gates of an old orphanage, private investigator Mike Church (Kenneth Branagh) is asked to find out who she is. With the help of a hypnotist (Derek Jacobi), the woman regains her voice and recalls vivid past memories of a couple from the 1940s torn apart by murder. Church begins to develop feelings for the woman, who he calls Grace, and then discovers he has a connection to the tragic couple from the 40s.

7. Pacific Heights (1990)

This is a great movie starring Melanie Griffith, Matthew Modine, and Michael Keaton as the tenant-from-hell. You'll probably never want to have your place as an Airbnb after watching this film. LOL!

Here's the plot...

Unmarried yuppies Patty (Melanie Griffith) and Drake (Matthew Modine) move into an expensive dream home in a high-end neighborhood in San Francisco. As they renovate the house, they look for a tenant for the first floor of their house. Carter Hayes (Michael Keaton) seems like a great fit at first, but it transpires that he is a con artist who plans to swindle them out of their real estate. As Hayes tries to drive them out of their own home, the couple must take drastic measures to fight back.

Here's the trailer....

UNTIL NEXT TIME, MY LOVELIES....
