Hello, my lovelies, I took the summer off to...Well to enjoy the summer. I hope your summer was off the charts fantastic. I ate far too much ice cream and I enjoyed every minute of it. Shall we begin?

SHEET PAN RECIPES I LOVE:

Once again it's Buzzfeed to the rescue. Sheet pan dinners are great. One pan, no waiting, and very little clean up. What's not to love?

I found a cute Buzzfeed article that celebrates cooking it all in one go.

Here's the link...

Here's some of my fave recipes that I spied from the above article...

1. Crispy Sheet Pan Gnocchi and Veggies

2. Sheet Pan Salmon and Asparagus With Potatoes

3. Sheet Pan Pork Tenderloin and Potatoes

4. Old Bay Shrimp and Sausage Sheet Pan Dinner

5. Sheet Pan Nachos

WHAT TO WATCH/WHAT I'M WATCHING:

1. Spy (A NETFLIX FILM)

I'm a fan of Sasha Baron Cohen's comedic work, so I'm very intrigued about this dramatic turn. Here's the trailer, check it out...

2. South Side (a quirky 30 minute laugh-a-minute show on Comedy Central)

This comedy is the little-comedy-that-could. I want more people to watch so they keep it on the air. I LOVE the show, I'm giddy like a school girl whenever a new one airs on Wednesdays. Enjoy the series trailer...

3. Psych (Seasons One to Eight available on Amazon Prime)

Excuse me if I experience serious after the fact FOMO. This GREAT show ended on it's eighth season. It's a delightful comedy I've been binge watching all summer. The characters "Gus" and "Shawn" are your ultimate friendship goals, and the entire cast is great.

If you like a quirky comedy with the added element of it being a detective show, check...it...out..

Here's a trailer...

4. "Deep Red" (directed by Dario Argento)

I've gotten DEEP into giallo films this summer...to the point where I might start cooking more Italian cuisine to pair with them for a great dinner and a movie combo. Lasagna anyone?

...Okay I digress. Giallo is defined as (according to Wikipedia that is): In the Italian language, giallo is a broad term that can be translated as "crime novel" including any literary genre involving crime and mystery, with all its sub-genres such as crime fiction, detective story, murder mystery or thriller-horror.

I LOVE them. Even the bad ones...and with this genre you do risk viewing a few bad apples. However, it's such a fun (albeit gory) genre I think you'll enjoy it.

My first giallo film recommendation is Dario Argento's "Deep Red".

Here's the plot: A psychic medium (Macha Méril) is brutally murdered, and musician Marcus Daly (David Hemmings) feels a need to solve the case, since he was the one who discovered the body. Working with him is reporter Gianna Brezzi (Daria Nicolodi), who hopes for a big scoop by solving the case.

Obviously, if you're not fluent in Italian, look for the dubbed copy. The dubbing isn't horrid and it won't take away from your movie enjoying experience at all.

The movie is SUPER old school. It was made in 1975. So if that's not your thing I understand, my lovelies.

Here's the old school official trailer...

5. "The Bird with the Crystal Plumage" (directed by Dario Argento)

Another giallo film, it might be my favorite of Argento's that I've seen so far. It's also SUPER old school. It was made in 1970. I liked it so much I've viewed it more than once.

Here's the plot: An American writer, Sam Dalmas (Tony Musante), is living in Rome with his girlfriend, Julia (Suzy Kendall). While visiting an art gallery, Sam witnesses an unsuccessful murder attempt by a mysterious figure. As the assailant is believed to be an infamous serial killer, Sam quickly becomes a key witness in the ongoing police investigation. After he begins searching for clues that may help him identify the killer, Sam discovers that he may be the next intended victim.

Here's the trailer....

6. Bluff City Law (premiering on NBC September 23, 2019)

I caught sight of the promo for this show and I was intrigued. I'm a fan of legal dramas and the familial aspect seemed cool and Shakespearean to me.

Here's the plot:

Coming from a famous Memphis family known for taking on injustice, brilliant lawyer Sydney Strait worked at her legendary father Elijah's celebrated law firm until their tumultuous relationship got in the way. After barely speaking to her father for years, Sydney is suddenly thrust back into the family fold when her philanthropist mother passes away unexpectedly. In the wake of this loss, Elijah asks Sydney to rejoin his firm, hoping to reconnect with the daughter he loves. She agrees because despite her lingering resentment and distrust, she knows that working alongside her father is her best hope at changing the world.

Here's the trailer...

7. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season Fourteen (Sep. 23)

I'm a long time fan of this twisted cast of characters. They're rude, they're crude, and unfortunately you get use to their insane shenanigans. Season 1 - 13 are available for your streaming pleasure on Hulu.

Here's a trailer...

UNTIL NEXT TIME, MY LOVELIES...
