Well I guess Christmas came early to me this year. Before I get into it, I’ll tell you I bought my first Vogue at nine. Yes, nine. So I am psyched to hear that Neiman Marcus and Target are teaming up with some of the best designers in the business -- Marc Jacobs, Tory Burch, Rag and Bone and 24 other wonders -- to create a gift collection.
It may sound superficial and frivolous, but I like to look good. Neiman Marcus knows what looks good. Target knows you want to be able to afford it. On the topic of fashion, I can only speak from a X-chromosome perspective, but the average American woman loves a cute shoe and at the same time is providing for more than herself. Target is the average woman’s Mecca for affordable fashion and Neiman Marcus is the store you go to in a gal’s own personal fantasy makeover montage. Yep, I have a fantasy makeover montage. Don’t you?
For those who are sartorially psychotic as I am, you understand my enthusiasm. Let’s not all Kumbaya together just yet. I do have a complaint. Why is this gift collection that they’re giving us, the huddled masses, considered such a gift in the first place?
Admittedly , I love clothes. It’s in my top five things to love. Still, I’m beyond over haute designers deeming it a favor that they dress us. I understand the cool factor of being only available to the creme de la creme. I just wish that high quality cut really went with an affordable price. There are those that claim to do both, satisfy the eye and the wallet, but that’s a lie isn’t it? I am going to say it is.
Of course I know the minute the collection is on sale December 1st, 2012, I’ll be there checking out the wares. I might be feeling like I just slept with the guy who only calls me when he’s drunk, but I’ll be there. Admit it, budget-conscious fashion slaves, so will you
