"…Most recently, that a Roman toga party was held, from which we have received two dozen reports of individual acts of perversion so profound and disgusting, that decorum prohibits listing them here." - "Animal House" (1978) "I'm on my knees all over town." - "I'm on my knees" by Lowlight Good Afternoon, my lovelies, Happy Tuesday. Without further ado, let's begin… AFTERNOON QUOTES: "When he kissed me, it evoked a response I had never known or imagined before, a giddying of my senses. It was instinctive joy, against which no warning, reasoning monitor within me availed. It was new and irresistible and finally overpowering." - Linda Christian "HOUSE OF LOVE" HOLIDAY MOVIE OF THE DAY/ "Gremlins": "I warned you. With Mogwai comes much responsibility. But you didn't listen." - "Gremlins" (1984) DAWNY'S 2-CENTS- They're re-airing this flick on AMC. I'm sure those of you who've seen it, remember the plot, but in case you don't… When Billy Peltzer is given a small creature called a Mogwai by his father, he is unaware of the carnage he is about to encounter. There is a huge responsibility in looking after Gizmo as there are certain rules which must be followed. The Mogwai must be kept away from bright light, never made wet and never, ever be fed after midnight. When an accident occurs involving Gizmo and water, the next evolution stage of the Mogwai appears, and it isn't nice at all COCKTAIL CORNER/the "House of Love's" latest concoction: Some of our guests have dubbed this drink… "The California Killer". J MORE AFTERNOON READING MATERIAL/an excerpt from "The Secret History": She was a good girl, a good sport. Sweet chuckles in the dark and her hair falling across my face, funny little catches in her breath like the girls back in high school. The warm feel of a body in my arms was something I'd almost forgotten. How long since I'd kissed anyone that way? Months, and more months. Strange to think how simple things could be. A party, some drinks, a pretty stranger. That was the way most of my classmates lived---talking rather self-consciously at breakfast about their liaisons of the previous night, as if this harmless, homey little vice, which fell somewhere below drink and above gluttony n the catalogue of sins, was somehow the abyss of depravity and dissipation. Posters; dried flowers in a beer mug; the luminous glow of her stereo in the dark. It was all too familiar from my suburban youth, yet now seemed unbelievably remote and innocent, a memory from some lost Junior Prom. Her lip gloss tasted like bubble gum. I buried my face in the soft, slightly acrid-smelling flesh of her neck and rocked her back and forth--- babbling, mumbling, feeling myself fall down and down, into a dark, half-forgotten life. RANDOM MUSINGS: Ta-ta for now, my lovelies. UNTIL NEXT TIME…
